Kim Kerrigan: A Career of Adapation
When I started recruiting 20 years ago finding candidates was a matter of placing weekly advertisements in the Courier Mail and faxing resumes through to clients.
In 2022 this process couldn’t look more different.
Before recruiting, I worked in the legal office of a Government Department and a top tier law firm. I quickly built my connections and then transitioned to recruiting Legal Support Roles for legal eagles.
During my time recruiting I have seen a variety of different markets; a pre-GFC market that was buoyant and candidate-centric, driven by lots of jobs. To a post-GFC market where the client became the centre of the recruitment process. The pandemic has shifted us again back to candidate-driven, and I anticipate as the economy continues to shift, we will eventually return to a client-centric market.
This year I made a decision that was a long time coming and decided to move into the Legal Professional department at empire group, taking with me decades of legal practice knowledge, and connections. Funnily enough, I am finding that a lot of the support staff I helped years ago are now lawyers and our connection continues in my new role.
My recruitment career has been built on adaptability, connections, and transitioning to something new. Even though my communication methods have adapted (from faxing to emailing), what remains the same has always been my commitment to consistently provide exceptional service to both my clients and candidates.
